Friday, March 6th - Since I Been Down - 6 p.m. - Free
On March 6, 2026, Studio Bob will host a screening of Since I Been Down. This award-winning film directed by Gilda Sheppard is an American story told through the eyes of a community impacted by the fear-based criminal justice policies of the 1980s and '90s. The film unravels intimate stories from interviews brought to life through archival footage, cinema verité discussions, masquerade and dance to ask why children commit violent crime, and how as adults trapped in the criminal legal system, they are creating a model of justice that is transforming their lives, our humanity, and a quality of life for all our children.
A panel discussion with several people featured in the film and director, Gilda Sheppard, will follow the screening.
The event is being organized by Peninsula Prisoner Solidarity (PPS), a local group supporting the Black Prisoners Caucus (BPC) inside Washington state prisons. BPC is a prisoner initiated and led organization that provides educational, cultural, and liberatory programming and activities for people currently incarcerated. In Washington prisons, BPC is not able to meet without outside volunteers - such as PPS - present.
The spirit and purpose of this event is to encourage community awareness, discussion, volunteer engagement, and support.
